As well as bringing smiles to local faces, it was also a fundraiser for the MFR Cash for Kids campaign.

The band said it had been “a fantastic day” with the chill in the air offset by the response from the community.

A familiar figure was on hand to help Santa Claus.

He said: “We all enjoyed every minute. Despite a very cold day, we were absolutely amazed at the support we were shown. It was nice to see all the little smiling faces when they saw him coming on his sled. A huge thank you to you, our community, for your continued support and generosity.

The total of £263.55 raised was doubled by the band, giving a total of £527.10 to be donated to MFR Cash for Kids.

They made a special mention of little Belle Morrison who donated a bag of goodies for the collection.
